             Important Events of Majeedia Hospital


 

i.              HEPATITIS B VACCINATION CAMPAIGN 

A campaign was undertaken to provide best quality Hepatitis B vaccine (Angerix-B) to people in general and employees of Jamia Hamdard and their family members in particular at highly subsidised cost. After sensitising the people by holding a public lecture in Convention Hall about this fully preventable but incurable disease, the immunisation was arranged in Majeedia Hospital on 28th,29th and 30th January 2002. More than 400 people including women and children availed the opportunity and got themselves vaccinated.

 

ii.         FREE DENTAL CHECK UP CAMP 

The camp was held on 3rd and 4th February 2002, at Majeedia Hospital. Prior to holding of the camp, a publicity campaign was undertaken by display of banners and distribution of handbills. The visitors were offered free consultation, free Dental extraction and scaling. Simple Dental fillings were also done free of charge. Knowledge about Dental hygiene and care was imparted. 

The aim was to sensitise the people about the importance of Dental care and make them aware that excellent Dental surgery facilities are available at affordable price in Majeedia Hospital. More than 250 people visited the camp. Dr. Shalu Chadha, Consultant Dental Surgery provided free consultancy and treatment.  

 

iii.    FREE EYE, OBESITY, BLOOD PRESSURE, HEART AND BLOOD

SUGAR CHECK UP CAMP 

The camp was organised after due publicity by display of banners and distribution of four thousand hand bills in surrounding localities. 

In addition to free eye check-up, vision test and blood sugar estimation of vulnerable group were done. General medical check up was also done including measurement of blood pressure. On the advice of the physician ECG was recorded. Entire services were provided free. 

About 250 people visited the camp. Dr.Deepa Kapoor, MS (Opth.) Consultant Opthalmologist, Dr. Priya Darshi, MD, MRCP(UK) Consultant physician and Dr. Anwar Habib, M.D.(Medicine) Physician, provided expert advice free of charge. 

iv.         SEMINAR ON ‘GYNAE-ENDOSCOPY WIDE VIEW THROUGH A KEY HOLE’ 

A Seminar was held on the above topic at Convention Hall, Jamia Hamdard on February 16, 2002. Dr. Neena Singh, MD(Gynae&Obst.)Consultant at Majeedia Hospital delivered a very informative talk on the scope & advantages of Gynae Surgery by Endoscopic method. Patient enjoyed the advantages of minimal incision (few Mms long) minimal bleeding, short hospitalisation, less painful post-operative period and least chances of hospital acquired secondary infection etc. Dr. Neena Singh showed video films of some of the Endoscopic Operations performed by her. 

The Seminar was attended by several consultants, some super specialists from Majeedia Hospital and other prestigious hospitals, private practioners and a number of other doctors and nurses.  Overall the seminar was very informative.

v.       ADMINISTRATION OF SECOND DOSE OF ANGERIX-B FOR PROTECTION
          AGAINST HEPATITIS-B

Once again publicity was given through the medium of banners, hand bills, posters and letters to HOD's etc. People who had taken advantage of getting themselves inoculated with the first dose of Angerix -B were informed to avail the opportunity of receiving the second dose of Angerix - B at subsidised rates. About 319 people availed the offer.

vi.      ORGANISATION OF FREE MEDICAL CAMP FOR GYNAECOLOGICAL CHECK,
          PAEDIATRICS, PLASTIC AND RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY.

After giving wide publicity through the medium of banners, hand bills, circulars and notices the camp was organised in the General OPD block of Majeedia Hospital on March 17, 2002 (Sunday) from 10 A.M. till evening. Besides the nursing, administative and medical staff of Majeedia Hospital the students of Rufaida Nursing College and House Surgeons also took active part in conduction of camp.

Subsidised lab tests, ECG Ultra Sound were offerd to people who attended the camp. Many cases were booked for Recontructive Surgery like Hair Lip etc. Closed to 100 people took advantage for the free services.

vii.       Installation of New X- Ray Machine

To cope with added patient load and to improve teaching and training of students of Diploma studies of X-Ray & ECG Technology, a new 500 MA Simens X-Ray machine has been installed.

The new facility was formally inaugurated by Dr.Hari Gautam, Ex Chairman University Grant Commission on May 18th, 2002.

 

viii.     Approval of Majeedia Hospital By CGHS (Central Govt. Health Scheme)

The Ministry of Health, Govt. of India has accorded recognition to Majeedia Hospital to provide Diagnostic Services including Radiological investigations, for all its employees, Pensioners and the dependent family members. This has been done after a through inspection and assessment of Majeedia Hospital's Laboratory and Radiological service by a high powered team consisting of senior professionals and medical administrators of Ministry of Health, Govt. of India. The approval has been accorded vide CGHS letter F No. Rec- 24/2001/JD(M)/CGHS/Delhi/CGHS(P) dated 7th September 2001.

ix.    Training Programme for Nursing

A Training programme of Nurses was organised in Convention center May 31st 2002. Dr. Neena Singh MBBS, MD ( Laproscopic Gynaecology Consultant) was the chief speaker. The programme was attended by Nurses of Majeedia Hospital as well as senior students of Rufaida Nursing College Jamia Hamdard besides Internees & House Surgeons. This Programme was sponsored by Novartis. Main theme of the training was the use of various infectible drugs commonly used in Labour Room.
