Inauguration of Model Rehabilitation Centre - A Report


Padmashri Prof P.K. Dave, Director AIIMS, today inaugurated the Model Rehabilitation Centre at Majeedia Hospital, Jamia Hamdard. Prof. S. K. Kakkar, Former Director, AIIMS was the Guest of Honour. A reference was also made to the MoU signed earlier between Jamia Hamdard and AIIMS and they have promised full support to this centre. He also suggested that Jamia Hamdard consider Naturopathy among its other specialisations as Jamia Hamdard has a lot of potential. Prof. Dave praised the VC, Jamia Hamdard, Mr. Siraj Hussain, IAS and Prof. Dr. Mohd. Farooque, MS (Ortho.) Former. Head, Othopaedics, AIIMS, who managed to open the centre within a short span of just six months. With this they have realised the dreams of founder of Jamia Hamdard Hkm. Abdul Hameed Sb. Prof. Kakkar said that its only a humanitarian organisation that can help the underprivileged of our society.

Majeedia Hospital is a registered 150-bed multi-disciplinary hospital providing treatment in Unani and modern systems of medicine with modern equipments, well-equipped ICU, four Operation Theatres, highly qualified and specialised doctors and reputed consultants. It aims to provide quality healthcare to indoor and out door patients. 5541 sqft of the basement of Majeedia Hospital has been converted into an ideal Rehabilitation Centre, fully air-conditioned, with separate cubicles for different therapeutic modalities with the provision of piped music. The centre is equipped with modern therapeutic equipments and post graduate qualified therapists in the specialties of physiotherapy and occupational therapy. They provide a solution to orthopaedic problems, neurological problems, sports health, cardiopulmonary problems and psychiatric problems, neonatal problems by combination therapy, laser therapy, medium frequency therapy, therapeutic ultrasound, heat therapy, radar med therapy, manu med special tilt, CPM upper extremity and lower extremity, electrical muscle stimulator, traction, hydrocholator pack, weight cuff, dumbbells, stairs, ramp and multi exercise chair.  

Jamia Hamdard also offers various diploma, graduate and postgraduate courses in physiotherapy and occupational therapy. Jamia Hamdard is the first and only University in Delhi to be awarded an A by NAAC, an autonomous, accreditation body of the UGC.
