Courses offered in the Faculty of Medicine

M.D. (Unani)

This course is offered in Tahaffuzi-wo-Samaji Tibb, Ilmul Advia and Moalejat

Duration : Three years

Total Seats : 02 each in Ilmul Advia and Tahaffuzi-wo-Samaji Tibb and 03 in Moalejat.

Eligibility:

A candidate seeking admission to M.D. (Unani) must have:

a) passed B.U.M.S. examination securing at least 60% marks in the aggregate from Jamia Hamdard     or from any other university.

b) completed the compulsory internship for at least 6 months.

c) appeared in the Entrance Test conducted by Jamia Hamdard.

Selection Procedure:

For admission to the M.D. (Unani) programme, single written Entrance Test will be conducted for all the M.D.(Unani) disciplines.The test paper will have questions based on the B.U.M.S. syllabus of Jamia Hamdard. The selection will be made on the basis of merit determined by the performance of the candidates in the written test only.No stipend is available to students of M.D. (Moalijit) and M.D.(Ilmul Advia) from the department of ISM,Govt. of India . Jamia Hamdard may consider in special cases the payment of stipend of Rs.2,500/- per month .M.D.(Moalijat) students may be posted in the Majeedia Hospital on roaster basis .

 

M.D. (Unani) for in-service candidates

This is a separate programme of study offered to in-service candidates including teachers of the CCIM-recognized institutes/organizations.

 

Duration : Two years, candidates will be given admission directly to second year

 

Total Seats   : One in Tahaffuzi-wo-Samaji Tibb for internal teacher candidate and one in Moalejat for external candidate.

 

Eligibility:

 

A candidate seeking admission to M.D. (Unani) must have: 

  1. passed BU.M.S.  examination, securing at least 60% marks in the aggregate from Jamia Hamdard or from any other institution recognized by CCIM.

  2. completed the compulsory internship.

  3. as a teacher experience of 3 years in a CCIM-recognized institute or 6 years as a Medical Officer/Research Officer experience of 6 years in CCIM-recognized hospital/institute/CCRUM organization.

  4. appeared in the Entrance Test conducted by Jamia Hamdard. There is no entrance test for teacher candidates for this programme.

  5. sponsorship and proper leave from their parent organization. In-service teachers of Jamia Hamdard and other colleges in a particular discipline in which MD is not offered will be eligible to apply for MD in a different discipline. Teachers of discipline in which MD is offered by Jamia Hamdard will not be eligible to apply for a different discipline. For example, a teacher of Ilmul Advia will not be eligible to apply for MD in Moalejat.

Selection procedure 
 

In-service candidates will have to appear in the written Entrance Test along with the general candidates who are seeking admission to MD (Unani) programme. The question paper will have questions based on the B.U.M.S syllabus of Jamia Hamdard. The selection will be made on the basis of merit determined by the performance of the candidates in the written test only.

 

M.D. Moalejat students may be posted in the Majeedia Hospital.


KAMIL-E-TIBB-O-JARAHAT (B.U.M.S.)

Duration : Five and a half years including one year compulsory unpaid rotatory internship

Total Seats : 50 (Inclusive of seats reserved under SFS and ten seats for those candidates who qualify Pre-Tibb examination from Jamia Hamdard).

Eligibility :

A candidate seeking admission to B.U.M.S. programme must have:

a) passed Senior Secondary (12th Standard/Intermediate) examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology from Central Board of Secondary Education or any other examination recognized by Jamia Hamdard as equivalent thereto securing at least 50% marks in the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry andBiology.

b) appeared in the Entrance Test of Jamia Hamdard.

c) proficiency in Urdu comparable to High School (Class X) standard in addition to knowledge of
English . Medium of instructions of this course is Urdu.

d) not more than 23 years of age on October 1, 2003.

Selection Procedure:

For admission to B.U.M.S. programme, a Combined Entrance Test (CET) will be conducted to test the knowledge of the candidates in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Awareness. The standard of questions will be that of qualifying examination i.e. Senior Secondary/ Intermediate. The candidates shall also be tested for their knowledge of Urdu as per syllabus given in this prospectus . The selection will be made on the basis of merit determined by the performance of the candidates in the written test only.


PRE-TIBB

Duration : One year

Total Seats : 10

Eligibility :

A candidate seeking admission to Pre-Tibb programme must have:

(a) passed Fazil from Madarsas / institution recognized by Jamia Hamdard and must have studied
Arabic, Mantiq and Falsafa.

(b) not more than 25 years of age on October 1, 2003

(c) appeared in the Entrance Test conducted by Jamia Hamdard.

Candidates applying for Pre-Tibb are advised to consult the list of Madarsas/boards/ institutions recognized by Jamia Hamdard.

Candidates admitted under this category shall be required to pass all the subjects prescribed for Pre-Tibb before they are eligible for admission to Kamil-e-Tibb-o-Jarahat (B.U.M.S.).

Selection Procedure :

For admission to Pre-Tibb programme, a written Entrance Test will be conducted in Urdu to test the knowledge of the candidates in General Awareness and oriental subjects (Tafseer, Hadees, Fiqah, Usool-e-Fiqah, Mantique, Falsafa, Arabic Adab, Seerat, Tareekh-e-Islam and General Scientific Awareness). The question paper will comprise of descriptive questions. The selection will be made on the basis of merit determined by marks obtained in written Entrance Test only.
