Mr. Syed Saud Akhtar is an accomplished administrator with over 39 years of extensive experience in the field of University Administration. He holds a postgraduate degree from Ranchi University and a Postgraduate Diploma from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai.
Mr. Syed Saud Akhtar was awarded the State Merit Scholarship by the Government of Bihar in 1982 and the Sri Ratan Tata Trust Scholarship from TISS Mumbai in 1991. He was selected by the US Government to visit USA under International Visitor’s Programme.
Mr. Syed Saud Akhtar previously held the position of Deputy Registrar at NIFFT, Ranchi, BIT Mesra, Kolhan University, Chaibasa and ICFAI University Jharkhand. He also served as Public Relations Officer to the Governor of Jharkhand and Officer on Special Duty at Jharkhand Public Service Commission. He has also been appointed Manager of Indian Cricket Team.
He is a recipient of Governor’s Award of Jharkhand for distinguished service, outstanding achievement award for Academic & Administration Excellence by US Cultural Centre, Kolkata.
Mr. Akhtar served as the Registrar of Jamia Hamdard from 2018 to 2023, where he made significant contributions to higher education programmes, national and international accreditations and rankings, global collaborations, statutory and regulatory compliances, and
overall institutional development.
Mr. Syed Saud Akhtar as a Controller of Examinations since April 2023 has been instrumental in adopting and implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 at Jamia Hamdard. Mr. Akhtar ensures compliance with the guidelines and directives of statutory councils such as UGC, INC, AICTE, NMC, and PCI, particularly in the university & examination system and has taken initiatives to streamline the examination process to help the students.
He is currently spearheading the complete digitization of the examination process and the introduction of online assessment and evaluation through the University Management System (UMS). Under his supervision, Jamia Hamdard has been registered with the NAD Digilocker, and efforts are underway to successfully upload student data to the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) platform via NAD.
He is known for his leadership, strategic thinking, institution-building skills, and student- centric approach.
