Colonel Tahir Mustafa, an accomplished administrator and distinguished officer of the Indian Armed Forces, currently serves as the Registrar of Jamia Hamdard. He brings with him a wealth of experience in strategic planning, geospatial technologies, and administrative leadership.
Prior to joining Jamia Hamdard, Col. Mustafa held several key positions within the Government of India, including Director at the Centre for Automated Military Survey (CAMS), Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Army), and Director of the International Boundary Directorate, Survey of India and Head, Boundary Cell, Ministry of External Affairs, GoI. His earlier assignments also include serving as Director (Administration and Training) at ADG Military Survey, Director of the Bihar Geospatial Centre, and Task Force Commander at the Eastern Border in Sikkim.
He holds a B.Tech.in Civil Engineering from Aligarh Muslim University and M.Sc. in Geography from Madras University, along with basic and advanced courses in strategic and geospatial disciplines. In recognition of his exemplary service, he was awarded an Eastern Army Cdr citation by then Army Cdr General V. K. Singh, former Chief of Army Staff, in 2007.
Col. Mustafa assumed charge as Registrar on 26 July 2025. His leadership and administrative acumen will play a pivotal role in advancing the university’s mission and implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in alignment with the national vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
