Dr. Neha Chanana has been working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry (on contract) since March 2022. She completed her graduation and post-graduation in Biochemistry from the University of Delhi and Jamia Millia Islamia, respectively. She worked as a Junior Research Fellow for a year in the Department of Plant Molecular Biology, South Campus, University of Delhi. Dr. Chanana earned her Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Jawaharlal Nehru University. She has also managed national and international projects as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology for four years. At IGIB, she actively participated in organizing both national and international conferences and presented oral and poster presentations at several such events. She received the Dr. Qadar Pasha Young Investigator Award for presenting her original work titled "Sexual Dimorphism of Dexamethasone as a Prophylactic Treatment in High-Altitude Pathologies" at the 6th International Leh Symposium 2022. Her research interests include studying molecular biology and the mechanisms underlying stress-associated diseases, specifically focusing on hypoxia and ER stress. She has qualified CSIR/GATE and has authored several publications with an average impact factor of 5.58 and an h-index of 7. Dr. Chanana teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including Basics of Biochemical Reactions, Biomolecules, Microbiology, Genomics, Proteomics and Metabolomics, Research Methodology, Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Plant Tissue Culture, Immunology, and Biochemical and Biophysical Techniques. As a Principal Investigator, she has also supervised three six-month MSc dissertation projects, one undergraduate final year research dissertation project and an undergraduate internship report. In addition to her academic contributions, she actively participates in sports and various departmental administrative activities.
