Dr. Anam Wasey is an accomplished legal academician and scholar presently serving as Assistant Professor of Law at the Hamdard Institute of Legal Studies and Research, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi. She holds a Ph.D. in Law from Jamia Millia Islamia, where her doctoral research examined “Muslim Women and their Rights of Dissolution of Marriage: A Comparative Study in Hyderabad and Delhi.” A Silver Medalist in LL.M. (Family Law) from Amity University, Noida, she has consistently demonstrated academic excellence and a deep commitment to gender-just legal scholarship.

Dr. Wasey is the author of the book titled “Muslim Divorce Law: An Asian and African Perspective” (2024) and has an impressive portfolio of peer-reviewed publications addressing issues of gender justice, triple talaq reforms, Islamic feminist discourse, domestic violence and comparative Muslim law in India and the West. Her scholarship is marked by doctrinal depth, socio-legal insight and a reform-oriented vision.

With international academic exposure, including teaching at Villa College in the Republic of Maldives and participation in the UK-India Interfaith Leadership Programme at the University of Birmingham or being invited to represent the Islamic perspective to the Pope’s Encyclical Letter, she actively contributes to interfaith dialogue and global socio-legal conversations. A sought-after speaker promoting gender-justice and gender-neutrality, she has been invited to speak at several international and national academic and other platforms. Dr. Wasey is dedicated to advancing critical legal scholarship, fostering constitutional values and shaping ethically grounded, socially conscious future legal professionals.   

Presently Dr. Wasey is engaged in writing two books and a few research papers related to her core area of expertise in addition to her regular academic exercises.

She holds a Ph.D. in Law from Jamia Millia Islamia, where her doctoral research examined “Muslim Women and their Rights of Dissolution of Marriage: A Comparative Study in Hyderabad and Delhi.” A Silver Medalist in LL.M. (Family Law) from Amity University, Noida, she has consistently demonstrated academic excellence and a deep commitment to gender-just legal scholarship.

Dr. Wasey is the author of the book titled “Muslim Divorce Law: An Asian and African Perspective” (2024) and has an impressive portfolio of peer-reviewed publications addressing issues of gender justice, triple talaq reforms, Islamic feminist discourse, domestic violence and comparative Muslim law in India and the West. Her scholarship is marked by doctrinal depth, socio-legal insight and a reform-oriented vision.

With international academic exposure, including teaching at Villa College in the Republic of Maldives and participation in the UK-India Interfaith Leadership Programme at the University of Birmingham or being invited to represent the Islamic perspective to the Pope’s Encyclical Letter, she actively contributes to interfaith dialogue and global socio-legal conversations. A sought-after speaker promoting gender-justice and gender-neutrality, she has been invited to speak at several international and national academic and other platforms. Dr. Wasey is dedicated to advancing critical legal scholarship, fostering constitutional values and shaping ethically grounded, socially conscious future legal professionals.   

Presently Dr. Wasey is engaged in writing two books and a few research papers related to her core area of expertise in addition to her regular academic exercises.
